Bug Beast was founded by a husband and wife team who believe the spaces where people gather should feel clean, comfortable, and intentional.
Blake built his career in hospitality. From bartending to coordinating events such as weddings, golf course clubhouses, and even managing food trucks at outdoor events, he understands firsthand how fragile the guest experience can be. You can perfect the lighting, the music, the menu, and the service, yet one swarm of mosquitoes or a cluster of fruit flies can disrupt it instantly.
Julia’s path was different but equally foundational to Bug Beast. In 1999, long before "clean" became a marketing buzzword, she was formulating her own botanical skincare line. She has spent decades studying plant based ingredients, herbal properties, and nontoxic alternatives. As a lifelong advocate for reducing chemical exposure, especially around children and pets, she has always believed that nature offers powerful solutions when used correctly.
When Blake continued encountering pest problems in real world hospitality settings and the only available solutions were harsh chemical sprays, the answer became clear.
For nearly two years, Blake tested the formula daily in real world hospitality environments while Julia refined and adjusted the blend with precision. What began as frustration became disciplined research, hands on formulation, and rigorous field testing. Each adjustment was measured against one standard: effective performance without compromising the atmosphere.
Julia ultimately developed a powerful botanical herbal blend of essential oils designed to perform in busy hospitality settings. The formulation works by overwhelming and disrupting insects’ sensory receptors. Many of the plant compounds used are naturally avoided by mosquitoes, flies, and other common pests. To insects, the blend creates environmental confusion and repellent pressure.

Today, Bug Beast is an EPA 25(b) exempt environmental repellent designed to protect patios, restaurants, bars, event venues, and gathering spaces without filling the air with synthetic chemical fog. It is not about masking a problem. It is about solving it naturally and intelligently.
